Who?Mrs Janet Irwin qualified as a teacher at Homerton College, Cambridge in 1967. She studied psychology at London University and has been teaching children and adults ever since. She gained her Early Years Professional Status in 2007 and an MA in Education in 2008. She also has a TEFL Certificate for teaching English as a foreign language.
She has been teaching in her home in Lindfield since 1976 and is CRB checked.
What?
Janet teaches both children and adults.
She works as an educational consultant too offering assessments for parents who are concerned about any aspect of their child's educational progress and advice on schools.
She has started running workshope on aspects of early years including language development and incorporating the forest schools ethos.
Within her private tutiion, she offers individual and group tuition, catering for Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3
She specialises in the following subjects:
- English
- Reading
- English as a foreign language
- French
- Maths
She also prepares pupils for entrance exams into the private sector and scholarships to prep-schools and senior schools.
Where?
The lessons are held in Janet Irwin's friendly family home, either round the big kitchen table or in the study or dining room.
When?
After school and in the evenings. Tuition is arranged during term time and in school holidays.
